Principal Designer Piping
Under general supervision, independently applies advanced engineering techniques, makes decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations. Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice.
Develop mechanical details as required for fabrication and installation of retrofit and new projects
Aid in developing piping discipline design schedules and updating regularly
Can plan and arrange work to meet any and all deadlines as required by project schedules
Perform the necessary fieldwork, pulling measurements, locating tie-ins, as-building existing systems, etc. develop detailed scopes.
Work from P&ID's, client specifications and vendor data to design complex piping systems for a chemical facility.
Create isometrics using 3-D software.
Conduct design reviews for construction, maintenance, and operations personnel using 3-D software.
Ensures that completed design is functional, maintainable and designed with safety and that all applicable codes have been followed and maintained
Interface with other disciplines and construction as needed
10 to 20 years experience in the design or field sketch of chemical process piping systems
Previous DuPont experience is preferred, but not required
Physically: Candidate must be able to stand or sit for periods of up to 4 hours. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders in an industrial environment. Must be capable in the case of an emergency to don a 5 minute escape pack, carry app. 8 lb. bottle of air to an evacuation point and then if necessary to carry the bottle while walking app. 10 minutes to an alternate evacuation point.
