Position Information Posting Number 20111234 Position Title Jack Brooks Endowed Chair of Government & Public Service #499965 Template Title Position Type Faculty Position Number 499965 Department Political Science Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function Position Summary Information: The Department of Political Science is seeking a scholar with outstanding teaching and research potential for the Jack Brooks Chair in Government and Public Service beginning August 15, 2018. The holder of the Chair will have a tenure track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Political Science. The Chair will teach six hours per semester, including graduate seminars and undergraduate courses in Congress, Legislative Processes and Leadership. In addition to a nine-month salary, which is dependent on qualifications and experience, the Brooks Chair includes a summer research stipend. Minimum Qualifications Minimum and Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have a PhD in Political Science or Government. Salary and rank are dependent on experience and credentials. Preference will be given to PhD candidates with advanced degrees in Political Science or Government and specializing in leadership studies or the legislature. The successful candidate will implement effective teaching strategies and communicate with, motivate, and evaluate students; maintain an active service agenda; participate with other faculty in professional and scholarly exchanges within the department and throughout the university; and participate in educationally related aspects of community and civic affairs.
